~ About Yame Tea ~
With a rich history spanning roughly 600 years since tea seeds were first brought over from China, Yame Tea continues to enjoy immense popularity both in Japan and abroad as a premium brand. Its deep aroma and rich flavor are gifts from the nature of Yame City, Fukuoka Prefecture—a region blessed with ideal conditions for tea cultivation.
In the mountainous areas at altitudes of 200 to 300 meters, fog frequently settles over the landscape. Morning mist, in particular, gently blankets the slopes and rolling hills, cradling the tea fields as if to protect them. This unique climate and soil create the perfect environment for growing high-quality tea leaves, allowing Yame City to boast Japan’s top position—in both quality and production volume—for traditional Hon Gyokuro (high-grade shaded green tea).
This product is ceremonial-grade premium Matcha made exclusively from first-flush Yame tea leaves of the Yabukita cultivar, harvested in 2026. While Yame tea is known for its vibrant color, nutty aroma, and rich umami, this high-grade Matcha is specifically suited for traditional Japanese tea ceremonies (Otemae).
